The Choice

July 23, 2018

Dear sis,

It’s been said that life is full of choices... and man, that couldn’t be ANY truer!

Everything we do is surrounded by a choice — where to live, where to work, what to name our kids and even the type of gas to put in the car that we also chose. The opportunities are almost limitless.

In most instances, choosing is easy! It goes a little something like this.....You see something you like, you weigh your options, you make a purchase (or not) and move on! Simply, right!?

Well, not really — especially when it comes to choosing your battles. THAT’S a decision that takes a full on art to master. I call it an “art” because unlike deciding on a new nail color, choosing our battles can be pretty darn tough and requires skill and emotional power.

I've learned more than any other choice in life this one might reign supreme. Why? Because often times the difference in a great day and a terrible day is almost always rooted in choice.

My choice to feed into that unfortunate circumstance at work or that annoying thing done by a family member or friend could completely alter my mindset and demeanor.

Instead of basking in the negative, I've decided to keep a few reminders in my imaginary back pocket.

1.) Become aware of what's really worth your energy.

2.) You don't have to show up to every argument you're invited to.

3.) Remember: despite how open, peaceful, and loving you attempt to be, people can only meet you as deeply as they've met themselves.

                                                                                                   - Matt Khan-

4.) The path to inner peace begins with 3 words........NOT YOUR PROBLEM!!!

So, the next time we feel the urge to choose negativity... let's ask ourselves is this a good allocation of my time and/or energy? Let’s weigh our options, and make a decision to move on. The outcome is all in our choice.

Xoxo,

Lo
