Stay in your lane

Dear sis,
The last few years have taught me a lot in life. The lessons have been big and small, but no matter the size one simple phrase seemed to always come up in the mix..."stay in your lane".
Let's take a stroll down "Comparison Blvd", shall we? It's a thoroughfare we've all been down before. You know -- those moments when we get sucked into comparing our journey to homegirl on our left.
We spend countless hours measuring almost every aspect of our lives: career, marital status, accomplishments, happiness, waist line... the list goes on! We question why someone else was "lucky" enough to have all the things we desire.
I can hear the screaming now, "Where did I go wrong?!"Well, the truth of the matter is YOU AREN'T HER..... and honey, that's okay!
We all have our own paths for a reason. Dreams aren't intended to unfold in the same way or at the same pace as anyone else. That's why those visions belong to YOU!
Here's what I've learned: Comparison kills joy. It sneaks up on you, and is much more dangerous to our growth and mentality than we realize. Before you know it, we're ignoring all the positive aspects in our lives, and we stop celebrating the small wins.
If we all took a moment to recognize the good in life, we'd realize our lives are pretty DOPE.
So, the next time you feel yourself swerving in someone else's lane -- ask yourself; "What can I do to prepare myself while I wait?" Focus on pulling the positives from your current situation knowing that your dreams WILL come to fruition... when it's right for YOU!
XOXO,
Lo
