Guess what -- we're in Africa!!
We touched down in Johannesburg, South Africa around 6pm Thursday local time. That was about noon Eastern time in the U.S.
It was a long 14.5 hour flight from Atlanta to Jo'burg. Lauren handled the trip like a champ. A little wifi and some headphones and she was good to go! Valencia on the other hand, wasn't so lucky. Halfway through the flight, nausea and dizziness set in. But, the flight attendants were awesome with offering remedies until we landed.
First stop off the flight was customs. The line was fairly long but it moved quickly. All we had to do was show our passport, then head to baggage claim.
So, you may be wondering..... why Africa?!
Well, long story short -- our parents have a home here. We're Methodist... African Methodist Episcopal (AME) to be exact. Last year, our father was elected a Bishop in our denomination. In his capacity he overseas church development, Christian education and district administration for all of the AME churches in Mozambique, Lesotho, Swaziland and Botswana. Our mother overseas missionary, young adult and youth ministries in the same countries.
And, honey --- they LOVE IT!! We've never seen them so excited to serve. They've always been servant leaders, but this new assignment has taken their ministry to an entirely new level of dedication. We adore seeing them SO happy and engaged.
We will be touring Johannesburg and their district for the next 10 days. We hope you'll join us on the journey by following us on Instagram and SnapChat! We'll post as often as we can depending on wifi.
Make it an amazing day, ladies!!
From the Motherland,
